I don't know about you but when I think Mauser, i think CRF. Anything less seems, well, less.
Steppin' on Sakos toes. Wait...polymer magazines...wat? But they do have the Mauser crest painted on them,style points.

Looks like a fine rifle. However, I don't think we need to re-invent the bolt action.
Unless I see a new design with 50 locking lugs and trued action , I will probably just continue using my Remington 700 and Model 98's.

People say wood is very cheap. Bedding - none as you can see. Pillars -none, Mauser says this couple of "nails" next to the recoil lug is all you need. Mag is plastic, feed lips - plastic, it rattles for some people. No accuracy guarantee whatsoever. No iron sights in North America. Barrel is hot pressed into the action, so not likely you will re-barell it ever. Price is Canada - around $2k... Why would anyone? Oh well.

My thoughts are maybe , given the wide ranging WTO decision on the seal Hunt, it's time to boycott anything coming from the EU.Grizz
I guess they probably already thought of this, but my view is a full line-up of the plain old M98s with pricing starting in the higher end Sako or Cooper range would do ok. It would be nice to see a Kurz M98 or maybe a G33/40 sized action of smaller stuff, a regular M98 length action for most mid length chamberings and a true magnum length double square bridge for heavy duty stompers. Name them the old way - Type A, B and C etc for level of finish and you have a full line-up to satisfy pretty much all needs.
Mauser already has that... offering.

Yes, I know of these but at $10,000 or so they aren't exactly in the Sako or Cooper price range. They also do not have a Kurz version, which would be uber cool. I am talking about basic "working" models with plain walnut stocks, or even good synthetic stocks that mere mortals could afford.
Corporations are now run by MBA types. They don't know what the hell the company is producing for whom and why.
Paul Mauser was gunsmith. He knew the product first. Than came the company.
Ford was engineer. Than came the company.
Hell, even Bill Gates was good at programming than came the company.
These people who run Blaser, they are not engineers. They don't understand. They operate in "market, brand, offering, niche, selling points". This is why we don't have decent Mauser of old. People who call shots see "price range" and fill it with M12.

the guys that own and run the factory of Isny know what they re doing .... like it or not ...
they re trying to open the market but the main ones was Europe where in some place hunters are limited by the numbers of guns they can own - switch barrels was the answer ...
now we have the choice Mauser 12 or Sauer 101 same everything except the stamp ...
i enjoy old Mausers and already the 03 was a shock like the 66, 77 or 94 (try to find parts for those) so for the price tag im passing my turn as we have choice and deals but some will think and act differently and that is still good to have the choice of our toys.

Phil - what makes you think the guys who run and own the factory know what they are doing? GM was a much bigger and more successful factory than Mauser and look what happened to them. How many times has Mauser been shut down or changed ownership? Say the word "Mauser" to anybody in the hunting and shooting world and the first thing they think of will be the M98. It is THE quintessential bolt action and the "guys who run and own" the factory don't seem to be keen on cashing in on that cachet. But instead they design a cheap rifle and "paint" it two different colours and call one a Sauer and the other a Mauser. Cooper has proven that there is a strong market for a quality built $2000 rifle. Sako has proven that you can even have commercial success selling tupperware stocked $1750 rifles.
Basically they own arguably the most famous name in the firearms manufacturing world. Mauser invented the "wheel" and now the guys who run and own Mauser are trying to reinvent the wheel.

I have no doubt the rifle will sell well in Europe, they will be going hungry if they intend on selling more than a handful of them on North American soil. It's just not a rifle that would breakthrough here IMHO.

I agree that this M-12 Mauser stinks of corporate, market driven hype. I would prefer a
Ruger American with a Boyd's stock over this rifle. I would bet an off the shelf American
would turn in better groups too.

I should add that I have owned and hunted with many Mausers - M94, M98 (many), M66, M94 (1994 straight pull) and M99/M225. While each was interesting and good in its own way, the M98 is, imo, the best.
I should add that if Zastava can build $500-$700 M98 Mausers then why can't Mauser build an original "real deal" for $1750-$2000?
