mauser magazine

I am thinking of converting a mauser 98 top feed to a detachable magazine on a project rifle, I have seen a company on the internet that advertises a "all you have to do is insert it clip", anyone have expierence with this, how did you find the detachable mag worked.

His conclusion as I read it, is to put an extended floorplate release button on your existing plate. Another solution is to get a hinged floorplate like the 1909 Argentine or the Parker Hale/Santa Barbara version.

Or get a set of Parker Hale DM bottom metal and clip, that works too. A company called Gibbs makes a conversion as well, and Sarco used to sell a "trench magazine" conversion, not sure if they still do. - dan
