Mauser milsurp ammo-a heads up.

Ruined by age and bad storage.

Sold as scrap metal for $1/kg.

Through a vibratory polisher and 20 at a time into a $0.75 cardboard box.

Sell to distributor for $5/box.

Retail for $15/box.

That would explain why it is hot. The cleaning process used probably broke the powder into smaller bits, and it burns differently.

Good plan to pull at least 10 rounds, weigh the powder, check to be sure all the powder comes out. Above posters nailed it.

I have/had some ugly old Yugo 8x57 that was not stored well. Duds, hangfires, etc. I ended up pulling the bullets, weighing enough rounds to get an idea of average weight, then loaded a grain or so under the average into boxer primed brass, used the bullets, and bang! I hate hangfires and duds with a passion. While I've been lucky and not had a dud go off way after trigger pulled, I have had some wicked hangfires, especially with old .303 British.

I had ~1k no headstamp brass 8mm. Going through it, I found 1 (one) piece with a "bxn" headstamp which is Czech.
