Mauser MO3 and M12

Is the bolt on M12 jeweled? You say action not as smooth as the others, does it have more less play in it or does it stick at some point? Just curious.

No it's not jeweled, it has a dull steel finish to it, and robust like the weatherby bolt. The bolt doesn't stick at any point, just not as smooth as the others, however; it is tight with no play from side to side or up and down. When I tipped the muzzle up and down the bolt does slide in and out of the receiver with ease. I'm sure that once the gun is utilized after 100 rounds the bolt will slide smoother.

Any idea on the twist rate, I have ordered one in 6.5x55 SE.

Many Thanks in advance!
Geez, I can only assume that the twist rate will be 1:8. Same as my 308 win., I can only assume that it is a 1:10. BTW, congratulations on purchasing a fine firearm. Another note on the Mauser M12; using my RCBS Premium Trigger Weight Gauge, it consistently pulled at 1.5 pounds. That will be nice on the bench...........and in the field. It's a really great trigger, you'll love it!

Many Thanks to Track and OwlOwl!

The trigger input of 1.5 pounds from you already has me exited.
Just keeping my fingers crossed, whether the twist rate of 8.66" is good for 140gr Lapua Scenars.

Appreciate your valuable inputs, as I could not find the info anywhere else.

Moreover, it would be nice to know if you have possibly any idea on which scope bases / ring mounts to use (one piece or two)?
Would like to order them before I get the rifle.

Regards,

Rumor has it that Recknagel 57080-3010 (front) and Recknagel 57090-3010 (rear) bases should also fit.

Recknagel (57060-0010) WILL NOT FIT.

Warne 1 piece base WILL NOT FIT as it is, would need some fitting and metal work.

Regards,
I went with a two piece standard Leupold. Now there is only one two piece Leupold base that will fit the M12, it is the FN Mauser, not the Mauser 98.

Nice Owlowl!

The scopes seem to sit up so high on thoose rifles. I'm not sure they would be for me. I still prefer my Model 70 CRF, although not in the same league.

Does the rifle only have one action length to handle from .222-.458 Lott?
For example the SIG SHR only had the one size up to 9.3x62 length and could not handle the .375 HH length rounds.

Same as the Fabarm Iris switch bbl - only up to the 300 win mag length.

I cant seem to find that bit of info in their advertising...

Regarding height of scope, it depends on bases and rings; primarily rings. I have a 50mm objective lens sitting on Leupold medium rings, where it clears the barrel by 3mm. Fits just perfectly, well nothing is perfect.

I would definitely have to handle one before buying it.
What I like the most about the M12, is that it is a robust little firearm, kind of compact, short and squat. It's very easy to handle, compared to the other beasts that I have in the safes.

Lovely rifle and scope set-up Track.
I did order mine as the 'Extreme' model but without open sights.

Many Thanks again!

Cheers!

My 30 mm scope already has the same rings (Leupold QRW, I think); would definitely look into the bases you mentioned!

Many Thanks again, OwlOwl!

Cheers!

Just ordered the Warne M902/832M from Amazon.ca for about $30 Total. (Tax + Free Shipping). A possible spot of luck!
However, I am tempted to order the Leupold base for FN Mauser but may want to try it first at a local store, as it not possible determine the ring hight required for my scope, which has a 56mm Obj.

Many Thanks Guys!

You will have to post some photo's once it's all put together.

Absolutely will do so;

cheers!

The Mauser M12 is ready. Got it zeroed in.
Beautiful mechanical feel and some how the Mauser M12 feels as if it is not from a bygone era, but the current decade itself.
