No the brown/black stuff is not rust, its some sort of grease that dryed up(the gun has not been shot or cleaned for 30 years),the only little bit of rust is on the end of the bolt and that should hopefully with a little rubbing come right off. The man I got it off said they would grind off the engravings that where on it because he thought it went to a diffrent country after it was made. Its not very patriotic to be fighting in a war with a different countrys gun, but thats what he thought.
 
If the bolt has a 3rd locking lug in the rear , you have yourself a 98.
