Mauser Model 93

[Blue Chicken]

Well I recently got a Mauser Model 93 at a local gun show and was just curious to where its from. Its a FN but it might be made under contract, its a 30-06 and no markings saying where it was made. Here are some pictures any help would be appreciated.

Its a Mauser 98, not 93. If it is originally chambered for 30-06 then it is post WW II.

You sure its a 98? a gunsmith looked at it and told me it was a 93.

definately a '98. actually, i think that properly it is a belgian M1950.

What's with the ugly receiver; is that rust?

No the brown/black stuff is not rust, its some sort of grease that dryed up(the gun has not been shot or cleaned for 30 years),the only little bit of rust is on the end of the bolt and that should hopefully with a little rubbing come right off. The man I got it off said they would grind off the engravings that where on it because he thought it went to a diffrent country after it was made. Its not very patriotic to be fighting in a war with a different countrys gun, but thats what he thought.

If the bolt has a 3rd locking lug in the rear , you have yourself a 98.

.30-06 and the ugly grey "teflon" finish imply post WWII Belgian military service.
