Mauser soft ####

I don't really have a favorite. I actually don't own all of them anymore, collection is constantly changing.

I've made some nifty photos though, some of them I keep because they are intersting, many more are posted in articles on milsurps.com, etc.

Here's some random milsurp ####:
Almost every SMLE maker:

Yes.... cleaned all the cosmoline off... light sanded the age off... light/almost clear stain... .

what was your method to clean the cosmoline off? dishwasher? I am asking seriously. I have a Yugo 48BO but the stock is ugly dark and very greasy and if possible, I would like to bring it to look like yours. That certainly is a purty gun.

I should probably order one of those M48BO's before they are all scooped up. I actually should get two, one to clean up and shoot and one to keep all greasy. I imagine in 30 years bubba will get his hands on a few and well, you get the picture.

Thats one hell of an impressive Finnish collection, Claven.

I have a 1917 Sestroyetsk made sometime between January and March and seems to have been captured by the Germans, sold to the Finnish Army and loaned to the Finnish Civil guard on two occasions. The spot for the unit disc is still present and not filled in on the original Russian stock. Not the greatest looking rifle but has enough history to fill a book. Next would be a Tula 1940 1891/30 captured probably during the Winter war and marked by the Finns. She saw some service for sure. Last would be my Tikka 1942 made M91 that looks like she got run over by a tank more than once but she still shoots damn good. Again, these are not your mint looking collector rifles but "they were there" and that is good enough for me.

I know this one is off topic but pictures speak louder than words. I didn't even realise the amount of Finnish/Russian/Soviet stuff I had until I pulled it all out for a photo shot the other night. Maybe we should start a Finnish rifle soft #### thread ? :)

As for the Mauser ####:

Gewehr 71/84s. Both made at Spandau in 1888 and less than three days apart. Re-united over a century later.

Gewehr 88s. All have gone to Turkey during WW1 and each modified by Turkey to varying degrees.

IMG_5902.jpg

Gewehr 98s. Plenty of history here, all have seen service, some harder than others.

Brazilian 1908 Contract rifle. Made at DWM ~ 1910 and probably the smoothest bolt action rifle I own. Not a mint collector piece but feels and operates like a brand new rifle. I love DWM commercial quality.

Arms of the German soldier in WW1 (still got some hunting around to do though).

Well, I cannot let all of this soft core Mauser ####o continue without showing off my small, petite Swedish lady. She does indeed love the spotlight!

Do feel free to oogle, she might even lift her top wood for you ;)

OK, I'll play. Not as impressive as the above collections, but I happen to like Mausers myself.

That Yugo Mauser is beautiful. Can you even get ammo for it? Who has the Australian Arms one in 7.62 Nato?

The Yugo M48's are chambered in 8x57 and it is available at most gun shops. Not cheap, mind you, but it is available. As with most (all?) centerfire calibres, reloading is the only practical, affordable solution to shoot them much.

I believe that Marstar is the dealer selling the AIA rifles.

My Russian capture shooter. Mismatched like all of them but nice Erma 1941 code and proper hardware. JP at P&S Militaria really hooked me up with a decent one.

Pictured with surplus WWII German iron core ammo.

Yes, there is a man room and yes they are all keyed alike. Somewhere on the forum here I posted some pics of my machine shop slash gunroom a while back.

I see all superb Mauser talent here! MauserMike, that AX is a tough code to find! Thanks again everyone for showing their Mauser beauties:rockOn:
