They tend to go for a premium over LE sporters because they are much less common. Their value depends alot upon the sporterizing features ( D+ted?, new trigger?, turned down bolt?, aftermarket stock?, drop floorplate?, etc) as well as the type of parent Mauser action (93,95,98?).
With these variables in mind 150$ to 450$. I picked up a nice one a few years ago, based upon a 95 Oberndorf action, Bishop stock, aftermarket med-heavy sporter barrel, D+T'ed, turned down bolt, in overall vg condition - paid 375$. Whoever did the sporting spent a lot more in equivalent today dollars.

The economics aren't in it today. Start with a M98 in sound condition with a good barrel for $500 and add up the following; turned down bolt handle plus installation, low scope safety, aftermarket trigger, drill and tap receiver, re-blue metal, hinged floorplate, synthetic stock and you are up to $1000 PDQ.
Nowadays you are much further ahead to go with a commercial M70 Win or a M700 Rem from the start at about half the cost. For a nicely done one I wouldn't pay any more than for a used commercial sporter, say $500-$600 tops. Consider also that Tradex is selling nice Mauser based sporters for a bit less than this.

Call a gunsmith and see what they charge for drilling and tapping and the price will
be per hole.
Times that by four, figure out what the bases are worth and add $30 loonies for shipping.
Close figures would be about a hundred bucks give or take a few bucks.
So you'd be getting this for about a hundred and a half if the seller would sell it
for the asking price shipped.
Run over to rimfires and see what's there for a bill and a half.
No brainer in my opinion and how many 7X57's fall across here?

Well - Its already D+T'ed, and the bolt is turned down, and it has an aftermarket safety. Wonder if the 93 action would fit in a Boyds laminate 96 stock?? Throw in a 96 Bold trigger from Boyds to flesh out the order...
