Hope it's not old news. I wonder how much they go for?

From the website:

History or not,I would gladly buy brand new Gew 88,pre 1900 Mosin and especially M95 Steyr in original 8x50R. I would have to think about Mauser 98 for a moment.

Of course price would have to be reasonable .

Guns in Germany aren't cheap, guns in Germany with Mauser marked on them REALLY aren't cheap. New production Mausers aren't even reasonable.

999 Euros ($1362 CAD) for a new production 98K isn't that bad. I was guessing they'd ask around $2000-$2500 since it's a limited run. I was just asking out of curiosity anyway, I'm not interested in getting one.

It would be sweet if they had a big Mauser banner on top of the receiver ring.

Had feedback from someone in Germany I keep in touch with. Told me he has a friend with one and they are beautiful but there really doesn't seem to be much interest in them from most shooters.

Said they are beautiful with dark blueing and birchwood stocks. I take it from how he wrote they have no provenance.

I wonder, if Porsche re-introduced a 356 EXACTLY like the original how much interest it would attain? ESP if it cost more than a contemporary car... sure, this one wasn't in the "real race" but, it is built like it was...

Whaddya mean you could have bought one for 50 bucks in the 60's? This is BRAND NEW!

...any other car fans out there a touch curious?

The one thing I wonder if they will try to re-create a WW2 style Kar98k, how will they deal with the swasis ? Anything related to national socialism is strictly controlled or out right banned in Germany nowadays. Perhaps they will adopt the pre-war commercial styles with the mauser banner ?

I think I read somewhere that these were built on scrubbed receivers useing a mix of old and new parts. I'd rather see a model B built.

 I second that, those mauser sporting rifles from the 1900s to the 1930s are in a class of their own.

I'd love to see them bring back their old sporting rifles!

Well they can't exactly stamp "147 / 19xx", for instance, on one of their newly made rifles, can they ? I welcome the idea of the 1924 or 1933 standard modell exports that were sold abroad in the 1930s, those are just beautiful to look at.

With regards to the K98, to the best of my knowledge, only early prewar Oberndorf rifles had the banner, so why would these necessarily have it?

Thanks diopter, that's pretty neat to check. :)

Too bad I don't read German. Still you can get the gist of it. There was a Norwegian K98 converted to .308 for what I think is the Buy Now price of $1357 CDN and a Winchester Model 1895 in 8x57mm that has 63 bids and is up to $823 CDN.

I wonder if that Win'95 is a conversion to 8x57mm or is new production?
