I got here a very nice Brazilian Mauser 1908 stock, and I am wondering what kind of Mauser barreled action would fit into it, beside a large ring Mauser action with 29 inch barrel.

Would a 1950 FN action fit, and if yes what kind of modifications are needed to make to the stock?

Thanks

I don't see why you couldn't get the FN action in there. Some minor inletting may be needed but I'm not sure of the exact area's as I don't have both actions on hand to compare. Trigger guard would be the big difference if the FN action doesn't have locking screws in the trigger guard. Some tg's without the locking screws are shorter from the main screws to the ends.

The 1908 Brazilian is a STANDARD length action. Any "standard" length action should fit into that stock. You may have to remove some wood though.

Not really enough information given. Are you planning on restoring a milsurp to some sort of military appearance or building a sporter???

Thank you for the replies.

No plans so far, just want to know what can be done, in case I come across a barrelled action at a gun show :)

With a good sharp chisel or two and a box of Brownell's Acraglas Gel any Mauser 98 (even small ring) action can be made to fit the interior of the stock and around the (often different sizes of the) trigger guard, just make sure to dye the Acraglas to match the wood as closely as possible. (Go easy on the dye. It will turn out darker than you first think. Dye comes with the Acraglas. The gel type is the easiest to use.)
