mauser stock finish..?..what to use ?

With the large number of mauser variants out there,...its hard to ask this question so ill try to keep it model specific. .What would be correct to apply to the stock on a Port 1904 ,..?...Are mausers in general oil finished?..or varnished ??

Definitely not varnish. Raw linseed oil is what I've used on a couple that needed to have the stock cleaned due to mold or something. I avoid refinishing at all possible costs though. Any sanding or refinishing just decreases the value and collectibility severely.

No...no sanding or refinishing here..the wood looks pretty dry..

Boiled linseed oil: multiple light coats will take care of dryness...

I have linseed and tung oil here...should do the trick..
