Hi all,

I picked up a mauser M-18 in 6.5CM a couple of weeks ago when tenda had them on for 729.00, not having much luck with it at all. I like the rifle

So far I've tried RL 17,RL 19, H4350 , IMR 4350 and H414 in it with speer 140 gold dots, hornady 129 Sp's and Sierra 130 TMK's along with some herters factory 129's from cabela's. Twist is 1:8.66" seating depths have varied from .010 to .070 off the lands.

RL 19 with the speer 140's initially looked promising (41.6gr) and is shooting just over an inch for 3 one time and 2 inches the next. There's no consistency with this thing,some groups/ combo's have had two touching and the next one 3 inches aways @ 100, others .75 for the first three@ 150 meters and the next one 4 inches out of the group, I'm not getting it too warm, scope is a brand new Bushnell 4500 elite 2.5x10 on weaver bases and quad lock rings.

I've got more bullets coming and I'm going to switch the scope out to eliminate it, Is there some secret creedmoor handshake or chicken sacrifice I'm missing out on? I took it out of the stock yesterday and all seems ok.

Who does mauser warranty in Canada ?
 
As IvoB suggests try a box of factory ammo...try S&B 131gr.
Have had great success with S&B to start with and then go from there.
Tighten the action screws with equal torque.
Same as scope rings and use a factory ammo (proven quality).
Meanwhile contact Tenda and ask them who to call for warranty, they should be able to give you a name and number.
Just some things to ponder before beating your head into the keyboard with reloads before sorting out the obvious.

I did as a matter of fact with some help from a fine local fellow (Karter- forealboreal on the site)who lent me his hornady coal guage and modified 6.5 bullet, the mag length can get you into trouble as its certainly possible to be kissing or forcing the bullet into the lands increasing pressures and not feel it as the rifle likes a good forward push on the bolt and there are double ejector plungers to overcome. Once I had the big picture with a bit of head scratching and experimentation on my part things started to make sense .Things really started to come together once I had 150-200 rounds down the pipe I came up with three 140 grain loads the best of was 44.0 grains of RL19 @2.760 with the speer hotcore 140 spitzer which put 5 into just over an inch. 40.5 of H4350 with the same bullet @2671 fps was a contender along with 41.0 of reloder 17 with the same bullet. The rifle has no issues shooting 120 speer gold dots into 3/4" 3 shot groups with 45.0 grains of Can Ams Dominion 4350 and bug holes with the 100 ballistic tip. . Its a handy little rifle, short and light enough. Feeds and extracts every time and now that initial accuracy issues are ironed out a keeper. It has some great features like the 5 shot double stack magazine that is just so easy to load, the mag keeper is positive and recessed enough not to bump by accident. The stock is plastic but serviceable and you'd really have to crank the forend to get it to touch the barrel. It has two plungers on the bolt face and a decent sized extractor that can easily be removed and replaced in 30 seconds. The trigger is adjustable without removing the action from the stock, bolt throw and clearance with the 3 lug bolt is awesome and for the uninformed but opinionated the barrel is threaded into the receiver and replaceable.... I bought it for a black tail gun for local and QCI deer on a bit of an impulse buy as I was intrigued from reading reviews and at 729.00 from Tenda enough to get me to bite. I quite like the rifle, the question will be how much I will actually use it.
