My view is that they are a very good rifle with excellent bbls and are very accurate.
There is a steady demand for them from the people who do like them. They are not found everyday and I see the odd want ad for one.
They were built by Heym for Mauser in the 70s or 80s??? (cant recall) Some had the calibers such as 8x68S, 9.3x62 and other good Euro rounds. I myself have one in the 8x68S. The mag well is long and can accomodate any long cartridge rather than the squeezing into a Remchester magnum wannabe.
The trigger is supurb and the accuracy is top notch. The other interesting thing was that it came with a nice long length of pull - 14.5 inches with just the thin butt pad. It is like they were built for larger people rather than the common 13.5 inch LOP like all the others do these days.
Bought one in 30-06 for a buddy in left hand (yes they made left hand as well- nice isnt it to be able to get what you want instead of "building from parts") Accurate, supurb trigger, reliable, great safety switch and for what its worth - the Mauser banner across the receiver.
I dont like the alloy floor plate and trigger guard - but that is not the end of the world.
Each cost about $800 in minty-very good condition. To me, they are worth at least twice that. The receiver length alone is worth it. I can seat out the bullets out that bit that makes a good difference.
If you find one - buy it - they are not making them anymore.
