  I finally got to put my new to me Choate m5 stock on my Mav and sight 'er in. Got to the farm and started blasting away, took 2 boxes of Winny Partition Gold to get it sighted in! Then I let a buddy try out my mule and it goes CLICK!  After taking the trigger group out, I notice that the hammer spring "jumped" out of it's seat and jammed the hammer in the cocked position. Has anybody had this happen before? Is it common? Just wondering as I'm hoping to get this issue resolved before deer season gets here.

On the other hand, I have never felt such recoil out of a shotty in my life (including 3" magnum turkey loads). WOW! The slugs were striking the ground 20' behind my target stand and throwing dirt as high as 25' in the air!  The slugs left 3' skid marks in the grass as wide as my foot. Quite the slug!:D Now only if my gun holds together........

Just wondering if this is a common occurence when shooting heavy loads out of a Mav 88? This is the first problem that I have encountered with the gun in over 10 years. Is there a way to premanentlyaffix the spring in it's seat? Was this occurence just an annomaly?

I had the trigger fail on my Mossberg 500, which is almost the same gun, but their wasn't even a "click", the trigger would barely move and the hammer would not release. Took out the trigger group, cleaned it (it wasn't that dirty and it worked, never did figure out what happened, which is why I am looking to replace this gun as my bear gun.

Some synthetic stocks (Ram Line comes to mind) when over tightened exert pressure on the 500 88 series trigger groups causing the "click f---" occurrence. My buddies 500 would not work at all when the stock was too tight. Just my two cents.

There aren't too many bears in Montreal so how much do you want for it?:p
