Hey guys im looking at buyin a new shotgun and the one I am looking at is available in black synthetic, max 4, or realtree apg. I dont have experience with either of these camo patterns. I will be using it for spring turkey hunting as well as waterfowl and grouse so I kind of need an all around pattern since i cant afford to buy multiple shotguns. Any recommendations?

Birds don't care what color your gun is. Camo guns are a marketing gimmick. Black however goes with everything, and it's slimming too. Get whatever maches your clothes so you don't clash. Clashing scares more game than anything else, birds have an uncanny fashion sense after all.

I own only black synthetic and wood stocked guns. That being said I have own several camo-ed shotguns.

Basicly it breaks down to what you are spending for time doing, if you chase pheasants carrying a MOBU duck gun is a little out of place weight wise, for turkeys I would recommend avoiding the yellow MAX-4 for no other reason than it shows up against the dark colours of the spring woods more than black or walnut or some green camo.

If it were me I'd buy whatever was on sale.

I have harvested many bitds with my 870 in original wood... If you click my username you will see me with a nice spring bird in my 1990's trebark suit... It's most important to sit still and pay attention and know how to call...

That being said, I like apg and that is what I upgraded to... It suits where I hunt better... And more versatile imop... I also think either would work...
