How hot can you load .45ACP and still be safe for use in an all stainless P220?

I have no desire to kill my brass, or the gun, I just find .45 ever so slightly anemic. How much powder have given you guys the best velocity and still be reasonable? I was thinking something in the +P range. 5.8 gr unique w/ 230gr round nose. Hoping to hit 900fps.Is this reasonable? For a 4.25 inch barrel?

How tough is your paper target?

I load 45 for a number of different 45 Autos and revolvers. The only ones I load a bit hot are the revolvers. the semis all seem to shoot the best groups at mild to medium charges. About 4.3 gr of Unique with a 200 gr SWC.

It will never be the same in any two .45's and running at the high end on pistols can be very unforgiving. In handloading, one must develop the load tailored to the specific gun.

I have used 5.6 gr Unique with a 225 gr LFP in my SiG. It produced 951 fps and I wouldn't be anxious to try much more than that.

What is anemic about expanding to .63 caliber and retaining all of its weight.

You might want to take up flower arranging and rethink the word anemic.
(she loves me, she loves me not, have you ever been shot with a Speer Gold Dot?)
