Have a noob question about longer range scopes.

Im doing some shopping around looking for some scopes for longer range shooting. How come they dont list the total MOA range of the scope? I do see in the description saying total w/e travel @ 100yds: 50MOA. Would that mean the same for north/south?

^ i dont think we need comments like that its attitudes like that from shooters who discourage new shooters
to the question where it says total " w/e" stands for "windage /elevation" adjustment hope that helps

I am not a scope expert but here is my opinion.
A MOA is one inch at 100yards ( actually just a tad over an inch ) . 2 inches at 200 yards, 3inches at 300 yards etc.
So 50 MOA at 100 yards in just over 50 inches at 100 yards.
W/E ( windage & elevation ) would in the example you give be 50 inches up & down & also right & left.

The total value is TOTAL VALUE so cut it in half for each direction of travel. 50 MOA will give you approximately 25 MOA up and 25 MOA down, NOT 50 MOA in both directions.

Some scopes have the same windage and elevation travel and others have less on windage than elevation.

Keep in mind that the closer you get to the vertical travel limit, the less windage travel you will have.

Same goes for windage... the closer you get to the windage limit, the less vertical travel you will have.

To find the specs, just look at different web sites.. I like https://swfa.com/ for window shopping.
