Maximum Varget Load experience 308 ?

I think I know where your going with this and it's a slippery slope.
Use data from a reputable source (of which their is a metric sh$t tonne out there for Varget) and safely work-up to your own maximums.
My max in my rifle and the max in my uncle Jimbos means absolutely nothing to you and yours.

With the 168 SMK - my accuracy load is 40.5 with Lapua brass in a Savage Model 12 F. Won matches with this rifle/ load.
You will find really fast that the .308 shoot better below max - way below max, as do most caliber.
I do not know where you are heading with this - but your post indicate that you have much to learn with load development. What you need to know is in reloading manual for the chosen brand of bullet you are planning to use.
One thing is sure - when you see pressure signs - you are over pressure. You can hit pressure signs before the max is reached.

The nice thing about varget is youll probably be into compressed load territory for a maximum due to its volume/ density.
All i gotta say is get a reloading manual and what it lists for a max load os probably the number you are looking for.

There is more to the equation. Some brass has less case capacity or more than other brands. Small primer pockets tend to endure higher pressure better than large pockets do.
More intel on EXACTLY what you are intending to put together would yield more useful replies.
Also need to consider bullet seating depth. You can cram more powder in the case if you have a barrel that allows you to seat the bullet further out.
In my 308 my accurate load is 43gr in LC military brass. And I'm not close to being compressed. But I also seat my bullets pretty far..

44.1 gr BL C-2 behind a 168 gr SMK HPBT with CCI # 250 primers in Hornady Gold Cross cases and they are very accurate a no where near a max load in R700 308

With my Mossberg shooting 168gr SMK I shoot 46gr of varget, I tried more and had no increase in accuracy or speed so I stuck with the 46gr.
My loads were significantly more accurate at 46gr than 42gr where I started.
At 46gr I am experiencing no pressure signs.

Same here - with any bullet weight up to 208 gr. In the brass I've been using, max loads published by Hodgdon were all compressed and in some cases I couldn't reach it. I found that the most accurate load was the max load.
Varget seems to have been made for the 308, particularly for bullets in the 150-180 gr range.
