This is my 3rd Maxus, first one, a MODB 3.5" purchased new from Prophet River in 2012. Second I purchased from a fellow CGN'r a couple seasons ago in Sporting Clays version and recently the latest from another CGN'r in a Golden Clays Sporting version. My previous two had a two piece gas assembly where the gas piston was independent of the action bar assembly and the action bar was plastic but with the golden clays they are a combined assembly where the gas piston is attached to the action bar assembly and the action bar is metal. That may explain why the GC is listed as 3oz heavier weight difference for the identical barrel length in the two different models(standard vs gc grade). The GC is 2012 mfg according to the serial #. The standard sporting was 2011 mfg. I am curious if the all metal one piece assembly was a later production improvement or an upgrade included only on higher grade versions?

I have a 2009 first year of production Maxus stalker 3 inch . it has the metal tranfer tube and piston in one piece . My 2014 Maxus hunter has the 2 piece piston and metal transfer tube .You can remove the piston from the tube by holding the piston in one hand and the transfer tube in the other put pressure on the joint like you are trying to bend the 2 pieces in half . It can be put back together by reveresing
the action you used to get it apart . Have a 2014 winchester sx3 20ga 2 piece piston and tube and the tube is made of black polymer .

I have had a Maxus Gen 1 for at least 8 yrs ... I have shot trap but mostly hunting and I can't count number of target and Magnum loads shot; maybe 3K ...

I have not had an issue with it. I cleaned it once a year and always at hunting season end.

I have 2 other hunting buddys - same sit. Not an issue. That's why we bought them - they run & run.

Sorry you have had issues with yours.

I havent had any issues with mine. Where did I say I had issues? I simply stated a noted difference in styles of gas tube...I put 600 rounds through this gun on the weekend at a registered trap shoot and it never skipped a beat.
