Hey Fella's,

I'm looking to mount an optic on my Browning Maxus, but can't seem to find anything as in a saddle mount etc.

As the receiver is not drilled and tapped.

Does anyone have any insight?

Thanks,

Brian

Only option without drilling and tapping is probably a Burris speed Bead. Saddle mounts make you need to raise the comb on the gun as they make the sight sit super high.

I had the speedbead mount and was not happy with the way it sat on...I couldn't get it properly adjusted ( although I had bought the mount used and maybe it was tampered with by the previous owner)

I would recommend drilling and tapping the receiver- a benelli M2 picatinny rail fits the contour of the receiver perfectly... ( buy the rail, mark the holes, drill and tap ( carefully as its an aluminum receiver) and then put whatever optic you wish on it.... easy $50 solution

I had seen in an aimpoint commercial what appeared to be a mount for the H1 / T1 that attaches to the vented rib however I can't seem to find that type of mount anywhere

You don't need sights for turkeys... I have shot dozens with everything from SXS 20 gauge with 2 3/4 pheasant loads to Citori's and a few with Maxus with 3.5" turkey loads... a standard bead is enough to get you on the head/neck for as far as your pattern holds together... don't waste your money or time.

Agreed, I pissed around with a scope and then a red dot years back when I started hunting turkeys and now a bead is all I use. Its just not necessary, pattern your gun, test different loads, know your max range and you'll be more than prepared. Drilling and tapping an aluminum receiver is not ideal and would hurt the resale value of that gun I'd say, and it looks like sh*t without the rail/optic attached.
