May 27 Bear Pix - finally, a shooter? (see end)

Note the timestamps on the first two pix! Guess I was a little noisier walking in than I thought.

last years cubs? yes, indeed I'd be willing to bet that they are.

Is the time on your cam right? If so, What are you doing showing up at your bait at 8:00pm? That's prime time! I usually like to be settled in my stand around 4:00ish, and stay 'till nightfall, although when desprit I sometimes stay from dawn to dusk.

I know it was too late, but it was my only chance to get out really . . . and I'd rather sit at a non-optimal time than not at all, because you'll never get a kill if you don't go! The week before we were out there roughly around the same time and saw a bear, so you never know what might happen.

But, I have a week off coming soon, and I plan to go into the stand at lunch, and stay until dark.

It's quite the rush coming out of the woods alone when you know there are 3-4 bears probably watching you from behind! :D

I did the same many times and often in the middle of the afternoon, I find it laughable that people are afraid to run into a bear in the middle of the forest.....

It does not take much noise as they have great hearing, I was only able to sneak up on them once and even then all it took is one branch to crack and the game was up.

I was thinking of taking a rake and clearing out the dead leaves and twigs on the way in to the stand, but I think it'd be a lot better solution if I just went in earlier.

I found out yesterday that my other stand got hit hard, it looks like, so I may have some pix of that area soon.
