May Purchases

I may have some time and energy late this fall. Till then, all I've got is what's in the picture.

I'm trying to find an easy source for the paper and sealant used. Then need to get more ink for the printer. Then get off (OK figure of speech) my ass and do it. I need more time in my life. Wah wah wah, I know, quit whining and do it.

I guess this is all dependent of me actually wanting to do it.

A little smaller than the LAW. I picked this up this month. All original blue, wood and finish, parts, marks, etc. I'm real pleased with the condition. Only has a couple of the obligitory dings in the wood, but not all that many. About as new as can be found for today I think.

Also has the 3 C /|\.

Anybody have a manufacture time period for the model 82??

Weren't all Danes reparked at least once at some point?

Nope!

Many of the Italian danish garands are wearing their original park. With the USGI rifles, if the gun was rebuilt in the US before going to Denmark, it's a safe bet it was re-parked, but not ALL the USGI Garands that went to Denmark were refurbs, some were originals in serviceable condition that didn't need rebuilding during their lives in US service.

It's not likely that these non-rebuilt Garands survived danish service without being rebuilt at least once and then re-parked, but it isn't impossible either.

Problem is, the Danes disn't mark their guns in any particular way when they rebuilt them, so there is likely no way to say for 100% certain. If it has any replacement non-original USGI factory parts (like Winchester bits on an SA, italian bits on a USGI rifle, etc.) then you can be well assured it IS re-parked though.

Ok. i was thinking more along the lines of rifles with USGI receivers, with VAR barrels and a mish-mash of parts.
Many of the ones I have seen and own/ed have had reeivers that looked too nice and brand new, that I`assumed they were re-parked. Will have to take a closer look.

Still wondering,,,, does anyone know the years/dates of manufacture for the Cooey model 82s? Which facility were they made in, any other info...

None of my reference books discuss the 82.

The Historic Arms series booklet on the Cooeys has a paragraph or two regarding the model 82. Seems to me they were made in Cobourg Ontario. I looked through my ref manuals and can't locate my booklet. Someone else here will have one I'm sure.

They were made in Colbourg and were made in the period 42 to 45. A reference to them is found in the Canadian wartime manufacturing records.

Yes, if I could obtain one, nice. If possible, please forward me his info, or forward him, my stuff. Thanx.

And thanks to the other guys for the info on the 82. I didn't realize they were war time vintage.

You might want to check with Don McIntyre and see if he has any of these left.
