Is a PAL Required to enter and shoot a ORPS event when accompanied by a PAL holder and obviously using PAL holders rifle.

I have a friend who’s in the military. Has shot quite a bit because of that, but does not have a pal at the moment. I have a spare rifle and was wondering if he would be allowed to enter the event and join me?

Likely won’t be till Guelphs September ORPS match as I’m away for the July match unfortunately.

Pretty sure you can enter and shoot. You just need to keep it legal with regards to the firearm, and the PAL holder being close to it or whatever that law is. The event itself doesn't add any extra rules. Just ask that the match director put the shooter and the rifle owner on the same squad.

It's the same situation as a child shooting, and they are allowed. The parent just sticks close by.

This is correct. If the RO is a pal holder this would qualify as direct supervision.

But they are your guest and you are ultimately responsible. Not sure how OPRS are RSO'ed. If it's one on one or couple shooters per RSO. I shot IPSC many years before I had a PAL. That was 1 on 1. But I've been to clubs where your are not allowed to shoot while your guest are. Because you are not in direct control. This weekend, we got people coming down from another club. While they be my guest, a way around it, is putting them on another rely so I can watch them.
