Maybe I'll Bang a Deer Today..........Finally, Photo Up

Given your experience you obviously need a challenge. Given the title of this thread the first thought that comes to mind is: Maybe Bang a cougar. :HR:
Well, at precisely 6:30 this A.M. I had my crosshairs dead center on the head of a small buck @25 mtrs, head down, feeding, facing me..........perfect set up with me elevated on my deck, shooting down with a perfect back drop situation, no risk,.............I couldn't do it........it just felt wrong and I hadn't finished my first coffee yet. He gave me a good 10 seconds in that position and I had a solid rest against the corner of the porch door, but I just couldn't do it. Man I must be getting old when I refuse to take a "gimme" like that........make no mistake though had he been a 200" WT I'd be up to my elbows in blood right now..........but that little 3X3 got a pass this morning..........the unicorn would not have, but he's with a different group of deer and hasn't shown himself in the past couple days. I just don't know what to think of me at this point...............:confused::confused::confused:

Nope 'Looky, but the shot right beside the house would most certainly have awakened her, and she's not overly pleasant when awakened unnaturally...........especially by a 65,000 psi muzzle blast right against the side of the house.......... and then to find a dead deer bleeding all over the lawn right beside her flower beds........:):):)

Well yah know the yote`s would be there in short order to clean up that mess.
Mawr targitts.
Maybe yah gartzs tuh send'er home to her mahs for a wee spell?

Her mah's ded............now what? Nah, she's OK with killin a deer.........just trying to put the blame elsewhere, cause I just couldn't bring myself to tap that li'l buck.........

Think I'll wait for that little rag horn spiker, he was a unicorn last year but wife says he's a double unicorn this year..........either way bad genetics, needs to go..........

I envy your troubles and decisions at present... which little buck? Coffee's not finished... Which rifle? Life's good there sounds like. You ought to mount the spiker as a conversation piece amongst the trophy room's general population, preferably by a fairly poor and cheap taxidermist- get it proper bug eyed.

Well my deer are quite punctual as they moved through the yard at 6:30 this A.M. as well. Just as I was getting my rifle and opening the door something from up behind my shop spooked them and they all bolted down the hill and out of sight. Three bucks in the group for sure but didn't get a good enough look to see if raggy was there............Tomorrow...........

The most work I've ever put in hunting came right after a "twang - thwack!"

I've had a few of those days too........A bison, a musk ox, a polar bear..........all a huge amount of nasty cold work..........sometimes it makes ya wonder why ya do it.
But I'm only talking about these small WTs we have here, can back up to it with the Ranger, throw it in the back, run it up to the shop where I keep my forklift..........well you guys get the picture, it really wouldn't be that big an inconvenience.
