This is the biggest buck I had come around this year. He didn't show up until late 2nd week of Dec. and he's still frequenting my stand even though the season's over. Between work schedule and mother nature I didn't get time before Dec 31st to tag him. I checked my cam on the Dec. 15th and he'd been coming for 2 days.....look at the dates. I didn't get much time to get him before he dropped them! Oh well maybe next year! Notice he has no brow tines....7 points far as I can tell.

Haha, my mother called me the other night telling me she must have carried a bat into the house with an armful of firewood and the dog had it pinned behind the book case. I told her to pull the bookcase back and let the dog take care of it. She called the neighbor and he caught it, turned out it was a flying squirrel that came in with the firewood!

Not sure why them deer don't just step on them stupid coons. I got some pics this year where the deer had their ears pinned right back cause a family of coons was visiting my corn spinner every night about the same time they were. Not sure who wins the fight every night.

Nice buck, but is that a flying squirrel in the second picture or am I seeing things.

I never even noticed that......but yes it is a flying squirrel. I have trapped a family of 8 that were living in the attic of my cottage which is about 200 yds from my stand. We have lots of them around here near Charleston Lake. Good eye :).

It varies slightly by zone, but

- Bow & crossbow, Sept 17 - Nov 13
- Gun, Oct 29 - Nov 13
- Muzzleloader, Nov 16 - Nov 20

I swear those coons at my place gang up and chase away the deer and bear. Then they fight among themselves to get the food.
One time at the bear bait (molasses covered cattle feed) the deer were coming in and helping themselves to the feed sprinkled around outside the barrel. This doe comes in one evening I am sitting there and the coons are already there fighting amongst themselves. She starts to come over and they are growling at her and she just turns and walks away. I swear I feed the coons and not the bears some times.

Here he is AGAIN one year later!! Well believe it or not my buck from last year is back and little bigger this year. Identical rack little wider/taller and he gained a couple small brow tines and an extra on his left beam making a 7pt a 10pt this year, man what a tank of a body on this fella. Man I hope I get a shot at him this year. Muzzleloader opens Monday but I won't be able to hunt till next weekend. In my opinion a fantastic Eastern Ontario buck.....wish me luck fellas. Worst case I have till Dec 31st with the crossbow so long as he doesn't drop them early again this year.
