Maynard 35 30

I acquired a Maynard 35 30 some time ago. I have acquired brass and after a nipple replacement I want to fire. The question I am asking is that there are no marks anywhere on the rifle it is in everyway a second modle civil war era. But it is a brass frame. With W.H. Johnson Elora stamped on the frame. Can't find any info. Is it a prototype?

If your gun looks like this it might be a Perry carbine.A conferate copy of the maynard

Not a prototype. A Canadian gunsmith made copy of the Maynard. Certainly rare and seldom encountered. Photo of one in Gooding's book on Canadian Gunsmiths.

Be extremely cautious doing anything with this rifle. It is rare and valuable. Any alterations, polishing, etc. should be avoided.
