They don't have a dealer account so they are not allowed to promote their products here.

Fair. As mentioned before - big supporter of the project. Pre ordered(tried fully pay) that night after talking to one of your awesome fellas in store. But the lack of comms and updates, as well as posters here who may or may not be involved in the project make me question. Would be nice if they signed up for some Q&A and transparency. For me, knowing The types of guys I’m buying from, can play a huge factor(one of the reasons I frequent CSC before ever buying online).

You are not the only one with questions as to who is who and not seeing a lot of transparency, hence the tight grip on my wallet.

The military specification document for M16 rifle (MIL-R-63997B) does not specifically name 7075 aluminum, it redirects to MIL-W-18355 (Military specifications, weapons: small arms and aircraft armament subsystems), where it just says the "materials shall conform to the applicable specification and drawings, No change or substitutions in material shall be made without prior approval of the contracting office", it further redirects to other specifications that takes it further away from the subject of the M16 rifle.

"Mil Spec" is an overused marketing term like " Match Grade" and "my feelings"

Look around, both Colt and FN who build guns for the US military use 7075, that would be a clue. Several other quality manufacturers use 7075 as well, cheap guns use 6061 or other materials. Full TDP specs are classified secret and are not publicly available.

What are you so paranoid about? The deposit is $100.....

EXACTLY!! The simple fact that MacDef didn't use the pre-order as a "go fund me" is all the transparency I needed to roll the dice with a hundred bucks. This speaks volumes about them.

I don't care if they aren't here on CGN yapping about it every day. That's what they have CSC for, and they are doing a good enough job representing MacDef to suit me.

Now on the other hand, if this company that 99% of us have never heard about wanted 50% deposit or even full payment up front, I would have laughed and forgot about them regardless of how bad I wanted a product like they are offering.

I can't figure out what some people are b*tching about so much with all the new products that are becoming available to us.

These are exciting times for us gun owners.

You mean like what a certain other retailer did with a red rifle that was highly delayed and had defective examples show up?

To be accurate, we asked for the deposit, it had nothing at all to do with MDI. In the past when we made pre order lists for new products and did not collect a deposit, we had too many people who would put their name on it without ever really being serious. Our $100 deposit was just to try to limit the list to those who would actually purchase. The other dealers simply adopted the same amount too, but again, it was not based on anything MDI requested of them.

Sounds fair to me.

Too bad we are seeing far too many other companies take advantage of our wallets to float their business. Looking forward to my SLR
