This is for the guys that have the stock, thanks. I'm about to call in my order. I want the adjustable cheekrest option. The thumbwheel option seems the least likeable from the boys down south. I like to get Terry Cross's rest piece, bullet proof and it doesn't move however he doesn't ship to Canada, plus the extra wait time will be a #####. Any thoughts, thanks.

I don't have much trigger time behind either rifle yet but the rubberized cheek rest "feels" better to me and it's easier to lower than the wheel version.

I have a saddle-type, the top one in the picture, that I've used a fair bit. Over time, with recoil and laying on the cheekpiece, it will work itself down. My solution was to jam a piece of rolled up gun-tape/duct tape underneath the saddle once I found my optimum position -worked like a charm, no more slippage.

I briefly had one of the wheel cheekpieces, they're fine too -but given the choice I'd take the saddle.

I have a non-adjustable A5 on a GAP 308. The scope is low and I see no need for adjustability if its setup right. Adjustable cheek pieces feel weird and they tend to move imo. Probably not helpful advice but I wouldn't go adjustable. Everyone has their own approach.

i have 2 guns with the saddle styls and i love them both.the only thing the wheel is better for and that is that they have marks so u can set the height the exact same every time. i shot without cheek peices on my guns for a long time and once you use a cheekpeice its pretty hard t shoot without.

Im with Artie Fufkin,
I have been shooting a non-adjustable A-5 for the last 4 years and am very happy with it.

I have a Leupold 3.5-10X40 in Nightforce low rings. This setup is nice and low and I get a great cheek weld without raising the comb up at all.

I suspect that if you are planning a 50 or 56mm objective then an adjustable cheekpeice may become necessary.

TangoKilo is correct. If you have the Hubble on top its not going to work. I have a US Optics SN-3 3.2x17x44 with Seekins base and their low rings. Works great. Would would even better if I wasn't by far the weakest link.

I'm going to disagree with a couple of folks here. No way in hell a perfect relaxing cheekweld is going to happen unless you custom fit something.

I have to disagree with you. In my opinion a properly fitted rifle is one that is adjustable for height and lop. Things change from position to position, what type of clothing you are wearing, ie summer vs winter etc. How do you have a perfect relaxing cheekweld, adjust until it feels right for you...it is now custom fitted to you, hence the requirement for adjustability. I have an A-5 with a saddle type cheekpiece have no complaints. It is also the most comfortable stock I have ever used.

Is it just me or are you agreeing, not disagreeing?

It isn't you. If I was unclear, I'll put it this way.
I need an adjustable cheekpiece or the rifle won't fit. I can make do with LOP issues since I don't change position and the clothes are very similar throughout the season, but my cheekpiece must be adjustable. Don't see how people can say their cheekweld is perfect without adjusting the cheekpiece.

is there anyone who has used a cheekpeice and didnt like it and went back to shooting without one. it seems the only ppl that dont like them are the ppl who dont have them on there guns.
