Guys I have a question regarding recoil pads on McMillan stocks. On my last McMillan I had the Pachmyer spacer system and its nothing but a hunk of rubber to prevent slipping. After a long day of shooting at a match my shoulder gets a beating...yes I'm a wimp ...has anyone ordered up a stock with either the Limbsaver or Decelerator pad? Can you have them installed with the spacer system or is that the lovely one I'm used to?

I found the same thing with my HS precision stock... the pad was nothing more than 1/4" of hard rubber, and after as few as 20 rounds of .308 shooting prone I was starting to get sore. Not so sore that I didn't want to shoot anymore, but sore enough that I wasn't shooting very well anymore. Off the bench I could shoot all day, but prone was an issue.

I decided to try an AICS and its definitely better. The pad isn't quite as soft as some I've seen, but between it being nicer than the HS's pad and the AICS adding a couple pounds to the rifle it seems to have taken a good amount of bite away from my .308.

The Decelerator pad is a nice soft pad. I don’t know if they can be added to the adjustable hardware. Although, I’m sure McMillan can work with you. I know you can order ‘half’ pads to save on weight, so I’m sure they can glue whichever onto whatever.

Best thing to do is give them a call.
