So I decided I finally need to make use of the Sako AV .300 win mag I have sitting in the safe. It has a piece of wood on it far too nice to be dragging through the bush...so I got in touch with RickBin over at 24hr campfire, and started the process of ordering a McMillan (he's awesome to deal with!).

I want to get the specklestone finish, and I'm leaning towards olive drab base coat with black speckles. I'm hoping some of you guys have the specklestone, so let's see them...any colour combos you may have!

Go to the Custom Rifles stickies on the 24HRCampfire,there are some pics there.I don't think there are too many around yet. Mur

Ive been looking at getting one, tan with olive specs for my weatherby vaguard. It would be nice to see some pics of what others have.

From Why Not?

Not taking a rifle out hunting because it has lovely wood, fine checkering and well-executed metal work, is like refusing to marry and enjoy a gorgeous woman because she will get old and wrinkled.

If you don't use it, you don't fully appreciate it.

One is fun to wear out, the other makes you sad...:p:D

That is a VERY good point actually...

Well I'm a fellow who likes old original guns with their wood stocks but, having looked at Blargon's photos, must admit that those Specklestone stocks look like great all-weather material that must feel good in the hand. Looks great.
