MD TAC21 VS Eliseo platforms

I just talked to Mystic Precision, and he says that the TAC21 doesnt have any way to allow the use of a 30-06 length magazine. Darn it! I wanted to stay with a Canadian product, but it seems that may not be possible!

Is it just me, or does it seem ridiculous that there is so little in the way of (30-06 family) magazine options?!

Incorrect... I said there are NO MAGS specific to the 30-06 family.

The inletting would be the same if using a standard magnum or 30-06 family mag if they existed. We do not modify mags as there can be other issues that affect reliable functioning.

Plus you wouldn't want to pay us to fuss with them.

I just had a really neat set up that I wouldn't have thought possible. With 2 sample cases, the RSAUM family seems to drop into the 308 AI style mag without issue. Of course, mag capacity will be reduced but you now have a great case volume to have some accelerated fun. No rifle to do actual tests but the cases move in and out smoothly.

I think the WSM is a bit too chubby to work but the RSAUM cases seem to fit ok.

Might have my next project figured out :)

something to consider.

Thanks Jerry!
I guess I didnt explain myself clearly "again" lol!

It just seems odd that the .308 cartridge family has so many choices for magazine use, and the good old 30-06 in use since 1906, has so little available.

On the other hand the Elisio RT10 has a magazine specifically built for the 30-06 cartridge. I guess thats my only option for a magazine fed 30-06 tactical style rifle.

The big boys decided that after the 8 rds PING, they didn't want long ammo anymore.

The 30-06 was only ever put into a mag for the BAR and I am pretty sure they are prohib or horridly expensive.

Since 1950 something or other, the 7.62NATO has dominated all development in a battle cartridge so the poor -06 go forgotten.

As I said before, if you want to upsize your ballistics and use AI compatible mags, RSAUM or WM.

High cap det mags is a very boring world. Personally, I would just single feed and you can really have some fun.

PS, see my PM re: OAL and mags.

Would the members who posted pictures here share there scope ring setups in regard to objective bell size, ring brand and height. Coming from a pretty much all black rifle background and not even owning a standard set of rings all I had on hand that wasn't dedicated to another platform was a Burris PEPR and fixed 10x elite tactical. It worked but not my ideal setup. I'm purchasing a 6-24x 50 scope this week and would like to get it as close to the rail as possible. Thanks.

I use a Schmidt & Bender 5 -25 X 56mm PM-II with Badger Ordnance Maximized high rings.............The 56mm bell just clears the full length front rail on the TAC-21, and would touch with the Butler creek scope covers. MDT makes a front hand guard/rail option that has the top rail removed except for approx. 3" at the very front so that iron sights can still be installed..............

With the full length rail:

Thank you, your post just sealed the deal on the optic I'm going to run. My budget doesn't allow a S&B at this point but a Sightron 8-32x56 should do me nicely for my skill level as I still have yet to invest in reloading equipment. Seeing your pictures sells me on the 8-32x56 vs the 6-24x50. I'd rather give up the 2x on the bottom end to get the maximum x in my budget. Cheers.
