Mission District Rod & Gun Club has got their second season of speedsteel back. First match is Saturday April 18/2009. Interested persons need to reply to speedsteel@shaw.ca to reserve a spot in either the morning or afternoon shoots. Morning begins at 0830 hr with briefing and first shots at 0900 hr. Afternoon briefing is at 1230 hr with shots down range at 1300 hr. A Touch of Kiwi catering is on site to provide hot food at the club house. Breakfast and lunches available, coffee is free. Gates will be open at 0800hr.
For those who aren’t familiar with speedsteel, its JUST FUN! We shoot 5 stages 6 times, keeping the best 5 times and discarding the 1 worst time. Each stage involves shooting 4 white plates followed by 1 black stop plate. Plates vary in size from 6, 8, 12 inches or the large 18 x 24 plates. Ranges extend from 10yds to 50yds. Preferred bullet is lead. Soft point or hollow point is just as good. FMJ can be used, power factors not necessary. Accuracy and speed are the key. Shooting begins from the 45 degree down angle, shot straight on or from behind obstacles. No magnum loads allowed, any pistol caliber ok. Categories are pistol, revolver, cowboy, .22lr, Law Enforcement, and carbine in either .22lr or center fire pistol. Cost is $15.00 recommended is 350 rds of ammunition. Sub categories are stock and open classes. Comps and optics equal open class, iron sights are classed as stock.
