Friend picked up an LSS Gen 1 Chassis awhile ago. The rifle was a Savage 11/111 in 300 Win Mag. The issue is we had ordered him the metal magazines for 300 win mag and when they arrived they didn't fit the chassis, they were too short and wouldn't lock in. That mags are stamped 300WM.

We had a magazine for 338 Lapua and that magazine fit into the mag well just fine but of course when you load 300 win mag into the 338 Lapua magazines and fire the gun, the rounds move and cause the gun to jam.

Just wondering if anyone had the same issue with a 300 Win Mag magazine not fitting in the mag well of a Long Action LSS chassis?

There are three different lengths of AICS long action mags.

Original was 3.715”
Remington used a proprietary 3.775”
And then the 3.850” often referred to as the CIP length

MDt makes the 3.715 and the CIP in both 300 and 338L versions. I.m surprised the gen1 has the bigger magazine well, unless it’s actually a Stealth chassis

Edit: it could also be a Tikka 3.560” mag you bought or were shipped accidentally

Please contact us through our support portal and we can look into this. If it is a Gen 1 LSS it will have a 3.715" magazine well and you likely have a 3.560" magazine. If you bought a stealth chassis which can be confused with an LSS it will have a 3.850" magazine well.

I know this order was done about a year ago. I just noticed that your website now allows a person to pick the actual size of magazine now so Ive told the customer to order a new magazine direct. Thanks for the heads up.

No problem, the website has always allowed you to select the magazine length you need as we are not able to predict which magazine you need.

contact MDT. their customer service is great.

I’ve been really happy with MDT Customer Service over the few years I’ve owned the : HS3, LSS, and ESS chassis for my Remmy rigs. They have always been quick to send out action screws to me, as well as my own clients who purchased MDT chassis used/and new

My clients are my range events seem to be a happy MDT upgraded (from factory ) crowd!

Cheers, Barney

there was some confusing verbage on MDT's website. I thought I was ordering a CIP chassis for the lapua length 300 win mags but low and behold wouldn't fit when it showed up. They were great to deal with and exchanged with no problem for what I needed.
