MDT LSS for Tikka T3

Sorry, to be more clear.

The LSS for T3 should free float a varmint-style heavy contour barrel but you will confirm at release (your responses, posts 11 and 17)

You also said there would be a TAC21 chassis for the T3 platform at some point (post 5) and I was curious if you knew whether or not it would free float a varmint-style heavy contour barrel.

Specifically I was referring to the T3 varmint, T3 varmint stainless, and T3 tactical barrels (I think they are all the same profile?).

The LSS will take barrel with an outside diameter of 1" free floated.
The TAC21 for the T3 will take a barrel with a diameter that is up to the same size as the action.

If you are thinking TAC21, the options are much greater. The LSS will have more limitations when it comes to barrel diameter.

Yes, our understanding is that all T3's are the same profile which means that we can use the same chassis for all calibers, with the exception of the trigger guard due to the magazine well size.

I just grabbed my first tikka T3 today, in 30-06 for hunting, but if I like it a lot, I might get one in a short cartridge caliber for target shooting, like a 223, so I would be interested in the LSS stock if they are interchangeable.
Will you make two different variants of the stock to accommodate both trigger guards or it will simply need to replace a part on it to fit both long and short magwell?

Yes, we are working on a second variant to fit the long magwell.

Will it be 2 different stock systems, one for the long and one for the short, or it's going to be 1 stock compatible with both, with just some parts to change (where the magwell and trigger guard differs)?.

Unfortunately it will be 2 different systems.

Which calibers are long? and which are short?
or, where's the split?
And, when is the long platform due out?
Also, any chance of a folder?

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

The actions are the same size. The difference is just the mag well. So with AI style mags, the .223 and .308 magazines will fit one chassis (short), and .300WM, .338LM and 30.06 will fit the other (long).
The long may be an issue. Since the action is the same size, there is not much room for magazines. It is being worked on. Once we have a working prototype, we will now a release date!

Folder.... yes eventually :)

Would you guys know the weight difference between the LSS and a regular T3 synthetic stock? I am considering one for hunting but do not want a weight increase at all.

There are so many different stocks, it is hard to tell. Some are lighter, some are heavier. Some are slimmer, some are bulky.
Best is to just weigh your stock, and compare it. The LSS is 1.6lb. With accessories on it, it will be up to about 2.5 - 3.5lb.
