MDT LSS-XL - Ergonomic Question

Hello,

More recently I have been on the hunt for a rifle chassis, and started to learn about what we have as home grown manufactures of quality rifle stocks/chassis. Well I found MDT, and caught my eye on the LSS-XL. As someone wanting to use a fixed stock, which will almost certainly be MDTs adjustable stock I noticed an ergonomics difference between the LSS and LSS-XL in the height the pistol grip is in relation to the trigger guard. As you may notice from the photo below, the LSS-XL has the pistol grip attach lower in relation to the trigger guard due to the added area to help secure a fixed stock.

So my question is this, does anyone who uses a LSS-XL chassis notice that your trigger pull is at an odd angle, or find they are forced to pull at the bottom of your rifles trigger? I had the owner of my LGS suggest that this could be an issue for some users.

Thank you!

I have the XL chassi, but unfortunately I can't give you the kind of answer you are looking for. First of all I've only used mine twice and secondly I think it has to do with the size of the shooter's hand. I have a big mitt so large that I have yet to find a thumhole stock that is confy never mind with a glove. Hope this helps.

By the way I mounted my Savage model 12 BVSS on the LSS-XLit makes for a heavy package, I'd say close to 13 lbs.

Thanks for your response. It just made me curious as my local shop made it sound like it was quite awkward to use, and didnt have one in stock to actually test fit. Only an LSS.

On various forums I have read complaints on the low grip that it puts your hand/trigger finger at a odd angle. But I have no personal experience...my thoughts on it are it may not be the most natural position...or "best" but my hand is use to shooting traditional stocks in all kind of corked up positions lol..I personally find any vertical grip better..at the same time I have wondered the same thing

Yes, it's not optimal. The hs3 is the same way.
It's useable, but going to something with the proper trigger/grip relationship sure does feel a bunch more natural. And comfort behind the rifle adds up to better consistency. Consistency equals accuracy.

Mega Arms Orias 700 chassis looks like it is very similar(grip to trigger height). I never hear anything negative about it though. Maybe because it's ~$800usd......or looks really "cool" no one says anything about it or maybe its a non issue..i dont know but I wouldn't count mdt out.. especially for a hobby shooter. There are a lot of people out there that love em
