MDT Oryx Chassis

I like the look of this one. Not a big chassis fan personally but the price and not having to buy more stuff is appealing.
Might try one when they get the Savage ones into production. Don't think I would give up my Magpul or B&C M40 that I currently have on my 700's.

As some others have said I think it’s a feed issue more than a size issue to run a bolt action with an AR mag. If that’s the goal I’d look at the new Ruger American Ranch that feeds from AR mags or else the Mossberg MVP. I’m not sure how Ruger did it but Mossberg had to use a little finger doohickey that pivots off the bolt to pick up a round from the magazine so that leads me to believe it’s not a real natural marriage.

One benefit with AICS magazines is they are fairly caliber universal and manual action magazines so you can run a number of calibers through your standard .308 mag and you can get 5, 10, 12 round plus capacity with no legal restrictions. I’m not sure you need a whole mountain of them either, the bolt gun matches I’ve been to haven’t required more than 2. Often a single 10 round is enough. Not like an action AR match where you might need 5 or more to shoot a stage.

So it's actually $520 CAD. For me that puts it in a bit of an awkward range. If I'm serious enough to put a chassis on a rifle than I think I'd just go all in for a TAC 21 or something with more custom options. And for less serious rifle setups I'd go with a Boyds wood stock.

I got mine this week. Very solid! When I ordered it, the website was broken and details on the chassis where sparse. I expected to have a sling stuf on it, but it's optional. So I'm waiting on some M-Lok slight stud to fix my bipod. I will also need to change my sling, because this chassis has holes for QD sling mounts.

Things I don't like: The cheek rest is adjusted via 2 screws that require an Allen-key to turn. It's not quick or easy to adjust. I think I'll have to replace the screws with knobs to make it easier in the field.

I will try to shoot it ASAP, I'm way too busy this week.
