MDT Rail Quality Question

So for the past few months I've been piecing together a Remington 700 budget build and researching which rail to get I came across MDT and their 50 Moa rail. I was wondering if anybody has any experience with the quality of MDT rails, as I'm highly interested in getting one with 50 Moa.

Would love to hear some advice and wisdom!

Wes

I have used MDT Scope Rails on Tikka, Weatherby, CZ and Remington rifles with zero fit an finish issues. They are my go to rail as the contact areas on top where the scope rings sit against is more substantial than the EGW rails and Weaver two piece mounts (the Weaver rails are very similar to the MDT rails). I have had MDT, Vortex and Nightforce scope rings on them, with scope ring alignment easily obtained. Plus, they are a Canadian Company with quality customer support.

just because the rifle is a budget build doesn’t mean that the scope is too.

wtf?

Tangent Theta riflescopes or rifle telescopes are especially developed and built to cater to the needs of professional marksmen. And each Tangent Theta rifle scope comes with a design that endorses the same. The company is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and rendered complete by a team of optical and mechanical designers, engineers, and world-class long range marksmen. It is extremely dedicated to working towards manufacturing riflescopes that are phenomenal in design, utility, service and performance. Tangent Theta riflescopes for sale are made in the company’s own manufacturing unit but internationally distributed by Armament Technology Incorporated.

Tangent Theta rifle scopes are made in Nova Scotia, Canada from the very best materials and components presently available.

I think you misunderstood what he was saying. He was in no way running down TT scopes. Just referring that his rifle build was done economically and he chose to put the bulk of the budget in the glass. A great idea in my opinion.

And if you're trying to build a decent rifle on a tight budget, it's important to understand what you need each part to do and where you need to spend a bit more and what you can use a cheap bit on.

Certainly the barrel and the glass are the two most important bits, and having them rigidly and reliably joined comes next, and most of the rest takes back seat behind that.

Late to this but I have to chime in and say I have MDT rails on ALL of my rifles now.
From CZ457 to R700.

50MOA seems like a lot for centrefire and some scopes might have trouble zeroing at 100 with a 50MOA lift. The one you have their looks pretty skookum tho.
My 20MOA MDT rail on my R700 5R easily gets to 1000 with a Vortex Strike Eagle (120 MOA vertical Travel). A 308 would drop more I suppose.

I use 20MOA rails across the board but I am about to put a 40MOA rail on my CZ457 (22LR) and it will for sure be a MDT rail.

Not only do they build high quality stuff, they are right here in Canada (BC even) and their Customer Service is second to none in my experience.

If you are thinking that a 20MOA rail will do, I have a Ken Farrell steel rail for sale that is a New Take-off. it's 20MOA and came on my 5R. open to offers, including a trade for a 40MOA MDT rail for my CZ..LOL
