This is for those MDT TAC-21 2nd Generation owners.

I will start off saying that I love my TAC-21 Chassis and have had no issues with it up until the last match I shot.

I had an issue with the stock locking lever working itself loose from recoil while shooting 10 to 20 round strings at the 2015 BCRA Precision Rifle Championship. I found I had to check it after 10 rounds and ensure it was tight.

MDT addressed this issue with their 3rd generation release of the TAC-21 Chassis. But for us 2nd Gen. owners the only way to fix this issue was to upgrade to the 3rd Gen. receiver and stock cap assembly.

This afternoon I solved the issue, and it isn't that hard to do if you are mechanically inclined, have a drill press, a 1/8 drill, cutting fluid,a Tap and Die set, a fine file, and a Dremel with a cut off wheel. I used a #8 - 32NC Allen screw trimmed to just go into the stock end cap.

I marked the lever and made sure I kept it in the correct position, then drilled a 1/8 pilot hole through the lever and the end stock cap. Then took a #8 - 32NC Tap and threaded both holes making sure the hole where lined up and the tap was going in straight. After a test fit I cut down the Allen screw with my Dremel/cut-off wheel combo. Cleaned up the threads with a fine file. When put back together with the lever in the locked position, the Allen screw threads into the lever and stock cap.The Screw barely touches the receiver where the end cap slides on.

Stock cap locks up nice and tight with no play. I will replace the Allen screw I used with a button head style Allen screw to make it look a little nicer...... ;)
