I’m a big fan of the MDT XRS. Between the price, the modularity, and the features I personally think it’s one of the better budget friendly options on the market.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s probably better stocks out there, but from everything I have used - the MDT XRS just works for me.

So let’s have a MDT XRS appreciation thread.

I have one that I use with a Vudoo 360 with a Zeiss LRP S3 4-25x50! I agree with everything stated above. Best bang for the buck. I used this gun in competitions as well as small game hunting! Very pleased plus Canadian company.View attachment 1129931

What arca rail is that? Looks like it fits nicely on the full length of the foreend.

I prefer the XRS over the typical chassis... fits me well. This is my 22 Creedmoor with an MPOD with ARCA clamp. Pity their cost jumped up so much

Very nice Jerry - i’ve looked at mpods many times but wasn’t quite sure how they’d work with the xrs of how to adapt them for arca.

Is that a foreend weight that I see protruding out the front?

It really is, i wish we could bully mdt into one for the 10/22

Yup! I ended up going with the Fieldstock. Still building it up, but should be nice for a general purpose 10/22.

Totally agree that the XRS is a gem, have one on a centrefire. It definitely is the stock for if you could only have one!

Yep, that is the MDT weight moved forward and then a bolt through the rail into the weight to hold in all in place.

Mounting the MPOD is easy. The T Slot rail is bolted to an ARCA clamp and that makes using and moving the MPOD on the forend easy and fast.

I do have one issue with the xrs; however, and thats the omission of an integrated qd port on the foreend. I understand that this is remedied by a mlok sling mount, but if using external weights or other accessories it’s slightly rendered unusable.

My solution to this was the drill out the side panel at the middle retention screw and replace it with a qd port.

How do you feel the field stock compares to the xrs?

love that paint job.
I have an ESS I want to paint but Im scared of effing it up/

They each have their flavor, the XRS is stiffer and heavier, The Field is relatively flexible in the forend and lighter.

I would say for bench and PRS the XRS is better. If you want a basic stock for hunting and offhand shooting that is still stiffer then most plastic stocks, bedded in aluminum, and adjustable for fit then the Feildstock is great.

Its from GBT and is an Area 419 rail. I have a RRS rail on a Manners centerfire that I like better but the cost on RRS products is steep. However theyre very well designed and manufactured.

Oh man.

With painting…prior planning prevents p*ss poor painting.

I am really light on the planning, which is why my 6bra looks like a toddler and a marker got at it. It’s going to get a sponge paint job, and not the cool woodland paint job thats on the 7 saum.

It’s easy to undo/fix (mostly) with acetone.

I would look for an inspiration picture of paint scheme (be realistic - dont choose some professional cerakote/airbursh job), map and plan your colours out, get good masking, and go slow. I typically stuff with paper towels and tape off my action area.

Got mine for my first rifle.

Nothing fancy but I added the enclosed foreend, external weight, internal weight to balance it.

The whole thing is at 17lbs onlyIMG_3996.jpeg
