I have been using various ones for the last 4 years - what a huge improvement on those crappy days!
My preference is for the Ameristep Outhouse for a single hunter - I am 6' 4" and can stand up for a stretch. In sloppy snow conditions, its slides off and piles around the base. The doghouse will accumulate snow on the top and collapse, but has more room if there are two hunters (ie when I take my son or daughter).
Nice deer - better than we did on St. Joeseph Island last week - Nipigon, here I come~!

Congratulations! looks like you made up for last years hunt big time.
I was gonna email you guys to see how you did, looks like you did better than our guys. There were eight of us for the two weeks, and one guy shot all three deer. (Not me)
By my sightings, there were no deer in the woods. I didn't see a single one.
I hunted every day, pouring rain, snow, sleet, bugs and heat, we had it all.
I have to ask though, when you skinned them out, was the hair falling out? It was on the first two of ours, like the warm weather was making them shed it again, it came out in mitt fulls when you grabbed the hide to pull.

JYC.......the day we were to take them to the butchers.........it was pissing rain out like hell..so we opted to pay a few bucks more and pay the butcher to skin them in his shop.. but in our handling of them no it was not noticed to have any loose hair..
but on the bigger deer..a lot more the usual fat was on it..
btw..both were shot in the back field..
i was set up in the very far east side of it..the smaller buck was taken abouut half way to the back cabin,about ~40 yrd shot..
the bigger was dropped ~15 yrds from that back scaffold...so about a 80 yrd shot there..lots of good sign just west of back scafflod.should be be good for some bow hunting back there

I had to go get a bunch of heart tests at Sunnybrook today, so when they let me out of there, I headed up to freeze my ass off at your place.
By the end of legal I had seen SFA.
Did see some respectable tracks though. There's about 2-3" of snow there now, the small lakes on the driveway are icing up.
My hands were so numb I had a bugger of a time opening the zipper on my coveralls.

Texas heart shot - with any ammo over .80 caliber it's self gutting
I always thought Texas heart shots were in the rear end and into the heart.
