Meanwhile In Oak Bay....

Nature being nature. I have 2 apple trees in my front yard the deer like to graze on.
I tell my family to give the deer as much room as they can when they are here eating.

I watch people walk within 15 feet of rutting bucks all the time around here.
They have no idea how dangerous it is...Can't wait for one of these huggers to get a good solid poke in the ass one day.

I have deer in my yard from may thru till freeze up and have had dogs up until this past spring. My dogs would get in a habit of standing on the deck and letting out one loud bark before they went down the ramp into the yard. This year there were deer living in my yard for weeks and I saw a couple dozen different deer over the summer months with a few that were repeat visitors all summer. They would get so close to me while I was doing my things around the yard that I could have reached out and petted a couple of them. Curious buggers some of those mule deer are LOL
I like having them around and don't see what all the fuss is about.

Exactly this!.....:)

The number one thing i see the deer eating in my yard are dandelions. They are rich in nutirents including calcium and the deer seem to key on those like crazy. In the spring when they were still molting thier winter hair and just starting antler growth, they would cruise the yard popping the tops off as many dandelions as they could munch down. It was actually funny watching them and how careful they were to just take the flower. Then as the season progressed into august they began eating the whole plant down to the root, among other "weeds" that they seem to really enjoy. We have 6foot fences so my neighbors awesome gardens are offlimits to the deer but the black bears wreck the fence and tear off a few boards every fall going after the apples and other greens still standing. My neighbor was frantically harvesting his bumper crop of raspberries this year before the bears could get them LOL
