My 20 qt Hobart mixer that has the grinder attachment needs to go into the shop,so I have no meat grinder.Lots of meat grinders on the market, what’s a good brand ,and what size and where is the best place to buy one? (Usedwould be fine)do you use for occasional home use?

I’ve got the cabelas 1hp unit and it’s a beast. Grinds like no tomorrow. It might be the “commercial” unit don’t remember off hand, but have never regretted buying it.

I use a Cabelas 1 hp. They are rebranded commercial units, although I can't remember the brand anymore. What I do
know is it'll grind a moose up so fast it's like something out of a low budget horror movie. 13 pounds a minute with the coarse plate. There's a 1 1/2 Hp version if that s not enough.

I got mine from wholesale sports before they went under, it is a Weston with a 3/4 h/p motor. It grinds at about 9lbs per minute, I'm happy with it. It has a #12 cutting head on it and it cuts as fast as I can feed it. It has a handle on the top so it's easier to pick up, they are fairly heavy. It's all stainless so it's easy to keep clean. Hope this helps.

I also have the Cabelas 1 HP and I agree with the above, a very capable grinder, have had mine for 4 years, grinds everything effortlessly without issue.

Good old #32 grinder from Princess Auto with the v-belt pully. 3/4 moter. Dozens of moose 9+ buffalo. Not pretty but faster than I can put it in. Several j.a.pan nock offs but all the parts are interchangeable.

Have a lem and works great. If you would use attachments cabelas is probably the best way. I can't remember but I did hear something that 1hp models that that attachments will not work. Not for sure on this but might wanna check that out

Another vote here for the Cabela's 1hp model. Used strictly as a grinder for several years, completely happy with it. Just recently started playing around with sausage stuffing and works well for that as well.

I have the smaller 500 Watt Cabelas unit. Plenty for me but haven't attempted a moose with it! It is fine for Island bucks.

got a 1970`s osterizer meat grinder in 2007-8? at a garage sale for $10. it is a touch slow, but the PA blades and plates fit it and it was $10. probably put the equivalent of 2000 lbs of beef thru it in the last ten years and it shows no sign if quitting. when it does go, i'll get a kitchen aid grinder for my C10 hobart.

Princess auto has regular sales, and I’ll be keeping my eye out for that Kitchener to go on sale, maybe end of season.I know you ‘get what you pay for’ but when you only need something occasionally,I can put up with some noise and a bit slower-as long as it works

Knock off stuff sometimes is good value,my Champion (Honda knockoff) 3000 w generator( $300) I got years ago starts first pull, even though it sits outside with just a sheet of plywood on to keep the rain off..

We have the same one and it’s been solid, 3/4 hp has been plenty of power so far, nice little grinder.

Bought mine from cabelas, great grinder, they changed providers and now parts are impossible to get. My grinder is now a paperweight because I need a new auger FFS. Buy a commercial name brand, not rebranded.
