I need to make a free standing meat hanging post this year. All the trees close to my camp are no longer suitable. I have a design i'm going to use.

My question is how high up do you generally have your cross post? I was thinking about 14 ft would have it covered. What do you guys do?

Dave.

Should be more then adequate. I hang game in quarters so 14ft would be more then I ever need. Last year I bought a 6x12 enclosed trailer that I built hanging racks inside, works great. No rigging up a meat pole, climbing on the tailgate to tie up a quarter, just open the door and throw her on the meat hook.

What are you hanging and how are you hanging it. If your hanging a whole moose then i'd want more than 14 ft but for quaters its fine. Your average deer is what 6'6 or 7 foot something like that so they will be 7 foot off the ground which should be fine
