Meat sickle for coyotes

I have used things as large and smelly as dead livestock as bait, and it doesn't work very well. The coyotes will be in the area, but not likely to expose themselves in daylight, or in the short hours you are actually covering the bait. Calling is far more effective than baiting.

That doesn't mean it won't work, but you may well spend a lot of hours watching your sickle without much action.

Around here, if the horse/cow/bull/etc has been medicated prior to dying, only the birds will touch it.
 
As My72Jeep posted - we use them with meat scraps from the local grocery store. Wolves and coyotes use them, but primarily its the ravens and bald eagles that eat the majority of the bait. Thats OK as the predators come out to see what the birds are feeding on.

I have been leaving the ones not in use in my garage and saw this guy the other day helping himself to a free mail. Put up a trail camera to take pictures in action:







 
freeze some Tannerite into the meat sickle, that way you have a meat bomb, coyotes parts every where
