YUp never head shoot something your going to eat, it dies instantly and blood flow stops Cutting the throat on anything that isnt hung as its dying wont do much good, a bit of blood from the juggler will run out before the clotting process starts but essentially the rest of the blood in the muscles still has no outlet until cut into and clotting has started by then. The only shot that kills quickly and allows lots of blood release is a double lung shot that the still beating heart pumps the chest cavity full.

Yup. Shot a couple of dear and 1/2 dozen moose in he head never had a problem bleeding it out. I remember one was amazing about a 15 foot shot not much above the eyes. Had him rolled over in a couple of minutes, blood flowed out the hole like coming out a garden hose. I’ve talked to a guys over the years that won’t do a head shot not even a final kill shot in the head because they don’t won’t to damage the rack or brake the skull.

I shot many deer with head shots and never had a problem with blood. But only one was far away and stiff was okay as I dressed it right away . All the moose shots looked fine except a couple where they favoured the one leg but a dead moose is a dead moose.
