Meateater

Just caught the first two episodes on Netflix today, I was blown away. Like others have said, not the typical WildTV/Outdoor Channel crap with every show being an ad for the sponsors and the over played redneck stereotypes.

Watched both of the seasons on Netflix over the past week and loved every episode. My youngest daughter (7 yrs old) has asked me when I have Wild TV on if that's what it's like when I go hunting. Of course I have to say no. If she asks the same question when I'm watching Meateater, I can at least say it is like that in many ways.

The thing I really like about this show is that is isn't just pure success. I mean, he captures hunting like many of us experience rather than most other hunting shows that make it look like you can walk out there and pop an animal in 15 minutes.

He fails sometimes, either at stalking, or just plain gets skunked. That is hunting, not what most other shows portray. This is why I like it. It captures true hunting. 99% is freezing, walking, sitting, getting wet, being uncomfortable, glassing, hiking, etc. The kill is a tiny portion that is the sum of a lot of work. I like that he shows all of that and not just the end game. This is the show that I like non-hunters to watch as it shows the work that goes into it. My wife doesn't like hunting but she actually enjoys this show.

Haha, likewise, paid my deposit this morning.

I wish there was a way to find out how many new hunters this show is going to be responsible for now that's it's made the drop to main stream Netflix.

You can start compiling now, I'm also guilty of this show getting me off my butt do the course.

My wife and MY 4 year old both like watching it, and not for the hunting... For the recipes, the hunt camp stories, the descriptive emotional narration.. It's a fantastic show and I hope netflix puts the rest of it up.

encourage everyone to send netflix feedback. Use their live chat function and just let the person there know. Takes 5 mins.

I don't think it is a matter of "if Netflix Canada wants to", it is a matter of "if Netflix Canada can buy the rights".

If some other big Canadian media company has the rights to the first 4 seasons, then Netflix has no option.

Seasons 1-4 are out there, though. :)

Right but it's still good to give netflix the feedback so that they put some effort into it or other hunting shows. I wouldn't mind seeing some Shockey bow hunting moose or any of the other canadian made hunting shows that used to play on global.
