MEC-GAR 1911 Mags Question

I use them in my Para SSP. Better than the factory Para mags and I like them better than the Shooting Star. They've been reliable and survived drops onto concrete.
 
I use the meggar 10 rounders which work well. If I was looking at 8 rounders and cost was a factor I would buy the chip mccormick from brownells at 13.99

Mec-Gar makes good mags for the 1911. I've got some in 9mm, .38 Super & .45ACP...the best though are Wilson-Combat #47 (there are several sub-models depending on base pad thickness, round count, etc...) Absolutely the best mags to use for your 1911s! The McCormicks are pretty good as well, but the Mec-Gars work just as well. A number of big name manufacturers actually have Mec-Gar produce their OEM mags that are sold with the guns and/or sold as "factory" mags.
 
One single stack mag i just discovered ((8 round) is the new Wolff 1911 mag. made in italy (its identical to the Smith & Wesson mag for thier 1911, but cheaper) very well built with a really strong steel follower. Brownells sells them. they work perfectly - including dropping out nicely on IPSC mag changes - form My S&W 1911 commander - whereas most of my shooting stars won't drop out without a small tug.

Metalform mags are also good. There was a group buy on them last year??? Detonics USA chose Metalform to produce their factory OEM mags. Knowing Jerry Ahern, he isn't going to opt for cheap/crappy magazines given the quality of the 1911s he is/wants to produce.
 
I have found the MEC-GAR magazines to be superior to the original Sig and Beretta mags. Keep in mind that MEC-GAR manufactures magazines for many original gun companies.
