mec gar magazines

own a 226 as well and
personally much prefer them over
thumb-numbing sig factory mags:mad:
very smooth and works great.
hands down i recommend them.

MecGar in fact have had the contract to make SIG Saur OEM magazines for several years now. A SIG 228 that I had with factory magazines also had the MecGar logo on them.

I own, use, and respect Mec-gar magazines but "...are they the Cadillac of magazines"? As good as they are, when it comes to 1911 magazines I will opt for Wilson Combat Magazines. Regards, Richard:D

I bought some 10 rounders for my 1911, and they have a stop tab on the back of the mag that doesn't work with my magwell. Gonna have to break out the grinder and get to work making them fit. Also gonna have to get some bumper pads.

Got 2 blued 7 rounders for my heel release P220 and 2 stainless 8 rounders for my 1911. They are solid and have not missed a beat. The ones I got for the Sig were about a third of what a factory mag would've cost with no noticeable difference in performance. The Mec-Gar 1911 mags are definitely nicer than the Lone Star magazines that I was using. I'm a happy customer.

Ok, just got back from the range. To recap, I bought 5 new MecGar mags for my Sig P226 9mm.

The mags are blued with a plastic bottom 1/3. I would have liked all metal mags, but they just aren't available. The metal half of the MecGar mags are the same as the Sig mags, but the surface of the plastic bottoms are slightly different. Finish and detail is as good if not better then the Sig mags.

All 5 MecGar mags loaded 10 rounds each without any problem. The last round was a little stiff, but no real problem. All 5 mags loaded into the gun positively and fell freely when released.

I ran all five mags through the Sig and there were no failures of any kind. They all ran smoothly with each one locking back on last round.

So while thats only once per mag, I would expect if there were problems they would show up from the get go.

I am not a 'buy the cheapest stuff guy', but new Sig P226 9mm mags at $70 a pop is a little steap for me.

IMHO MecGar Sig P226 9mm mags are good to go.

I bought 5 of the MecGar mags for my incoming FN High Power SFS 9mm. When I opened up the plastic factory FN case, what magazines did I find ?

I discovered the pistol came with 3 (not one) of the MecGar sourced Factory OEM magazines, just parkerized and not super blued, shiny ones.

I've always been pleased with MecGar magazines. Yup, even for my wife's IMBEL/Springfield 1911 9mm and my Norinco NP29.

Life is good,
Barney
