So I was using my Mec Junior MK5 for the first time and I thought I put the right bushing in (Middle one) for 17.5 grain measure I loaded 5 shells to check weight they all came up to only 14.6 so I put the large bushing in and now am only measuring 17.6 I thought it would be alot higher Am I doing something wrong or is this right, I am using red dot powder win AA`s HS, 2.75 shells, 7.5 shot 1 and an eighth
need numbers off bushings to know what is going on
check out http://www.mecreloaders.com/PowderBushingBar/Bushing.asp
what i think is happening is that the powder needs to settle a bit
what i have done with no shot in the shot bottle
is when you flip (or add powder) i tap on the plastic bottle several times (or work the up/down handle several times just letting it slam up)
throw a powder charge and toss it in the top of the powder bottle
then throw a 2nd one and weigh it (and make a change to the bushing if required ant to be sure several more
Note bushing will not exactly match what the bushing table says
you want to be close
--under a hair is better than over a lot --unless you check your book(data)
and there are several dram equ/ velocity loads for your componets
powder charge will vary from lot to lot
and will vary if you have old Hercules power or the new Alliant powder
What # bushing are you using ? for your light target load
