MecTech Carbines

I have a good friend with one that he uses his glock as a lower. They are OK they have a sorta Sten gun Feel to them, you can feel the recoil spring in the tube rattle, those of us that have had the Opertunity to fire stens or the Sterling Smg it may bring back a "little" nostelgic feel. the closest legal thing i have shot to the real thing. Same but different. its hard to explain, they do seem OK for accuracy though.

Just an opinion

I had a chance to shoot one in .45 cal and the thing would jam every couple of rounds.I would go with a Glock AR from ollie arms.:)

I have one in .45 - feeding lead 200gr semiwads i get about one stovepipe every 25 rounds or so. Tons of fun :D & surprisingly accurate but yes it's a little springy sounding -like my AR. The boxstock Norinco frame i'm using also gets about 1 stovepipe every 25 when used as a pistol.

Will try another frame to see if it improves- when i find the time which has been scarce lately.

I fired one just a few days ago. It saw a few hundred rounds without a singe hang up and it seemed to shoot pretty well. It was in .45

i love mine. gives no troubles whatsoever so far. and yes, 18.5 would be cool. going to do some modification in the stock area, thats the only thing i dont like

I have been shooting mine for a bit now and love it. They are wonderfully accurate if the ammo is up to the task. At 44yds, hitting shotgun shells is no problem.

I shoot a 45ACP version on a 1911 Norinco frame. Function is 100% IF the ammo is not oversized. I make my own 200gr cast bullets and the batch I am shooting through was cast poorly and oversized. Whenever I get a really fat rd, it jams but that is totally an ammo problem. I use Mech Gar and McCormick mags and strongly recommend that if having functioning problems. Frame also has an extended ejector. Casings fall in a nice neat pile.

Best part is that at ACP pressures, ww and alox lube is all I need to get zero leading. I use HP38 but will be switching to titegroup shortly.

With the longer barrel, I easily get 200gr cast bullets to 1000fps+ with the same load that does 850fps in my 1911. Kind of like getting a 45Super for free. They make a Rowland version and I am sure a Super can be easily accomodated. Now we are tickling the 45LC and standard 45-70 loads.

Yes, you get the AR sproing and the stock takes some getting used to. You will need a very high set of rings to make any scope work. I have a Kalinka 4X with Dragunov reticle. I had a dot originally. With this reticle, I have hold over marks well past 200yds.

As I said before accuracy is superb and not just at short range. Clay pigeon size rocks at 100yds are easy prey. Only shot out to 180yds and would say easily inside milk jug size targets. Vertical stringing starts to become a problem but again an ammo thing.

I like the left side bolt handle. Very easy to operate. Makes you want to get a high cap frame. The wannabe muzzle brake is pretty cheesy but looks OK from a few feet away. A proper muzzle brake would be an interesting add on for zero muzzle rise.

I used to shoot my SKS a lot but this carbine has taken over that role. The cost with my homemade bullets is dirt cheap, recoil pretty much zip, and loads of accurate fun.

Fugly, well let's just say it has a 'practical' appeal. I recommend them for sure.

I had an opportunity to test one in .45ACP and the other in 9mm during the summer and I can say I liked both. They are neat little round pounders! :)
