MecTech Carbines

Not if you re-register it.

Unfortunately, the CFC don't seem to allow re-registration of pistol frames into non-restricted. I don't see any black letter law to prevent it, but several posters have mentioned trying to convert TC Contender or XP-100 frames into rifles, and not having the re-registration allowed.

The Mech tech is merely a part regardless of the barrel length - it is not a firearm - the frame is the firearm. As the frame will always be a pistol it will always be restricted. you would not be able to reregister it as anything other than a restricted pistol.

Not fighting this statement but if true how can it be legal to put a longer barrel on a ruger PC4, berretta storm, or M1 carbine and have it become non-restricted?

Love it

I've got one for my Gold Cup .45.

It shoots beautifully, very accurate and a load of fun. I don't shoot it as much as I'd like, but my 14 yr old son loves it!

Mine cost around $500 tax in new.

because they are just restricted rifles . the Mec-Tec is a pistol. kinda like have a 20 and a 11 inch ar upper. no matter which it gets, it's prescribed restricted by name.

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead because I saw that Mec Tech has released some new uppers at the Shot show 2013.
I'll have to see what Freedom Ventures has in stock...although this thread is 7 years old LOL

These are around $360 in the US. Which is an OK price since you are getting a bolt and barrel system upper. It would still be a restricted range toy, but I've seen some accuracy reviews on the net and they seem on par for other PCC systems.
